'Wow, he knows how to address his customers.'
Usually it is quite rare to meet taxi drivers being so friendly and polite each time they face different people. However, this case was not a common scene.
"Bukit damansara please. I'm heading Plaza Damansara."
"Alright. Miss, are you working here(I was waiting for a taxi in fornt of my university)?, or did you just finish the class?"
Hm, at first, I did not want to respond to his question cause sometimes they could be very annoying and even scary.
"Both", yes... I did answered.
"Hahaha. You must be a very hard working person. You are very lucky that you can do both. Just now, there was a lady who was very depressed and desperate to find a job here. Plus, she couldn't find her fiance who has run away from her when they were supposed to get married."
"Reaaally? That is sad. Where was she heading?"
"To her place. She told me that only of she had a job, she could get everything back, even her fiance. By the way, she was not a local, she was somewhere....hm, let me recall, where was it.... Ah, anyway, I have met many foreighners here finding a job or working here in malaysia."
"Well, I am working here, too. (smile)"
"Oh, you are not from here? Where are you from?"
"Korea."
"Oh! Korea... Before I became a taxi driver, I was in Perak working under 'Manjong' company. You know that the company is from Korea? This country is lack of technology so we borrow human resources and equipment from other countries, like Korea, Germany and Singapore."
"Hm... I see."
"And Koreans are very strict when it comes to work. Eveything is fast forwarded... I had very hard time to catch up otherwise they would complain... Plus, Malayisa has many holidays,right? And they don't like holidays. Some of them do work on holidays as well."
"Crazy....."
"Hahaha... You may be right. But they are very hard workers, indeed. I need to make a U-turn, right?"
"Yes."
"Oh, this building.... It's for house loan stuff. Back then, it was cash that would work to buy houses but nowaday, it's no more. This company is the first one established in Malaysia for house loan."
"I see."
We had very informative conversation and was very pleasant to know that not all the drivers should be stereotyped. Hahaha.
